Local Treatments
Local Treatments (Spot Treatments)
Not every infestation requires a tent. Local treatments target specific, accessible areas of activity to eliminate termites or other wood-destroying organisms with minimal disruption. Since 1996, Richland Termite & Pest Control has used proven spot-treatment methods to stop damage and protect your structure.
Best When
- Activity is isolated to a few accessible locations (eaves, fascia, trim, attic members)
- Post-fumigation touch-ups are needed in newly exposed or repaired areas
- Hidden galleries can be reached via drill/inject or foam application
- You want a targeted option with minimal prep and disruption
Not Ideal When
- Widespread drywood activity is found across multiple rooms/voids
- Galleries are largely inaccessible or suspected throughout the structure
- You need whole-structure assurance (see Fumigation Services)
Targeted Treatment Methods
Wood Injection (Spot Drill & Treat)
Small precision holes are made into affected wood members to inject control materials directly into termite galleries. Holes are patched/filled after treatment.
Foam into Voids & Galleries
Low-moisture foam expands into cracks, wall voids, and complex galleries—ideal where straight injection can’t follow winding tunnels.
Surface / Crack & Crevice Applications
Localized surface treatments along seams, joints, and entry points provide a protective barrier and knockdown where activity is present.
Preventative wood treatments
Borate solutions are applied to raw or sanded wood to penetrate and help protect against future termite and fungal attack—great during repairs.
Timbor Solutions
Timbor is a trusted borate-based treatment designed to protect your home from subterranean termite activity. Applied to exposed wood or targeted soil entry points, Timbor penetrates deeply to stop infestations at the source and provide long-lasting structural protection.
What to Expect
Our Process
1) Verify & map: Inspect, locate galleries, mark access points, and document scope.
2) Prep & protect: Cover nearby surfaces, move items as needed, and set safe work zones.
3) Treat: Apply the appropriate method (inject, foam, crack/crevice, borate).
4) Patch & finish: Fill drill holes and clean work areas; coordinate wood replacement if required.
5) Re-inspect: Follow up to confirm results and discuss prevention.
Homeowner Prep Checklist
- Clear 2–3 ft of access to treatment areas; move vehicles if eaves/garage need access
- Secure pets and plan for kids to avoid work zones until surfaces are dry
- Remove or cover fragile items near drilling/foam areas
- Provide attic/garage access where applicable
Aftercare & Monitoring
We recommend a follow-up inspection (typically 30–60 days) and, where appropriate, enrolling in a maintenance plan to reduce future pressure.
Safety & Re-Entry
We recommend a yearly follow-up inspection and enrollment in our yearly maintenance program.
